SiriusXM Play On Charlotte: Our Roaming Photo Booth at Riley Green’s Show at The Underground

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, SiriusXM Play On, presented by Spectrum, brought Riley Green to The Underground in Charlotte for an intimate club show that kicked off NASCAR’s Bank of America 400 race weekend. We were there with our roaming photo booth, photographing fans in the crowd and at the sponsor wall, with every photo branded for SiriusXM and Spectrum.

The night: a SiriusXM Play On club show

SiriusXM’s Play On series pairs live music with big sporting weekends. For Charlotte, that meant an exclusive Riley Green show for SiriusXM fans, many of whom won their tickets through a SiriusXM and Spectrum giveaway.

The Underground is a club-sized room, and it was packed. NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar introduced Green, who played songs from his new album That’s Just Me and closed by jumping into the crowd during “Dixieland Delight,” as WBTV reported. The full show airs on SiriusXM’s The Highway, channel 56, on Friday, October 16 at 8 p.m. ET.

Why a roaming photo booth fit a club concert

A standing-room show doesn’t leave space for a booth and a line, and nobody wants to give up their spot near the stage to go stand in one. A roaming photo booth solves both problems. We carried the camera and lighting through the room and caught fans where they already were: with friends and a drink in hand, in the crowd before the set, and in groups holding their Play On tote bags.

When guests wanted the classic sponsor shot, we moved to the step-and-repeat, a wall of SiriusXM, Play On and Spectrum logos with a race tire on the set as a nod to race weekend. Working both the room and the wall meant the plan could change as the crowd moved between the door, the bar and the stage.

    SiriusXM Play On

SiriusXM Play On branding on every photo

Every photo came out in a frame built around the event’s look: the SiriusXM Play On logo, “Presented by Spectrum,” Riley Green’s name, the date, The Underground, Charlotte, NC, and a checkered-flag graphic for race weekend. That means every photo a fan shared carried both sponsors’ names, with no extra effort from anyone on the night.

For sponsors, that’s the point of putting a photo experience in the room. A guest’s own photo, from a night they’ll remember, is something they’ll actually post and keep.

Planning a sponsor activation at a Charlotte venue?

Concerts, club shows and race-weekend events have a few things in common. Here’s what we plan for:

    • Brand approval before the day. We design the photo frame with every sponsor mark and get it signed off ahead of time.
    • Low light. Club venues are dark. Our roaming unit carries its own studio lighting, so faces stay sharp and colors stay true.
    • No footprint. A roaming booth needs no floor space and no power drop, which matters in a packed room.
    • A wall for the hero shot. If there’s a step-and-repeat, we work it alongside the crowd so sponsors get both candid and posed photos.
    • Venue coordination. We confirm load-in, timing and where the attendant should be during the set with the venue and the agency.

We ran the same kind of activation at MLS All-Star Week at Truist Field. For corporate parties and branded events in Charlotte, see our corporate event photo booths. For national tours and multi-day campaigns, our sister studio CPBR Activation handles brand activations anywhere in the country.

    FAQ

What is a roaming photo booth?

A handheld camera with built-in studio lighting, carried by an attendant who works the room. Instead of guests lining up at a booth, the booth comes to them.

Can the photos carry sponsor logos?

Yes. We design the photo frame with every sponsor’s logo and the event details, and you approve it before the event.

Does a roaming booth work in a crowded concert venue?

That’s where it works best. It needs no floor space, guests don’t have to leave their spot, and the attendant can also work a step-and-repeat for posed sponsor photos.

Photo booth setup by venue type

Most Charlotte wedding venues fall into one of five types, and each type changes the photo booth setup: where the booth goes, how we load in and which booth fits the room.

    Hotel ballrooms

The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Grand Bohemian, Kimpton Tryon Park, Le Méridien, The Westin, Marriott City Center, Marriott SouthPark and The Ballantyne. Hotels usually have set rules for vendor load-in, such as a loading dock, a service elevator and a time window. Ask your catering manager when vendors can load in, because we arrive about an hour before the booth starts. The best spot is near the dance floor but out of the path to the bar, with an outlet within reach. Best fit: the Print Booth or the Glam Booth.

    Country clubs

Quail Hollow Club, Carmel Country Club, Providence Country Club and Ballantyne Country Club. Clubs often hold cocktail hour and the reception in different rooms. Decide where the booth lives before the day, since moving it mid-event eats into run time. Ask about vendor parking and which entrance vendors use. Best fit: the Glam Booth for a black-tie crowd, the Print Booth for a dance-floor crowd.

    Estates, barns and historic homes

The VanLandingham Estate, The Brawley Estate and Founders Dairy Barn. Check where the closest outlet is and whether the floor is level. For an outdoor or tented reception, plan a covered spot in case of rain. A flower wall ($299) or boxwood backdrop ($199) suits these spaces.

Photo booth at a Rock Hill, SC wedding reception

    Rooftops

Hestia Rooftop. Wind and weather drive the plan, so ask about an indoor backup space and elevator access for equipment. Where floor space is tight, the Digital Photo Booth or the roaming photo booth works well.

    Event spaces and restaurants

The Goodyear House, PINE, The Revelry North End, The Casey, The Ruth, The Collector’s Room, The Yorkmont and Founders Hall. Smaller rooms fill up fast. Agree on the booth’s 10 by 10 feet of floor space with the venue ahead of time, and check whether the room flips between ceremony and reception.

When to run the photo booth on the wedding day

Most couples start the booth when dinner wraps and the dance floor opens. Guests are relaxed by then, and groups form on their own. Three hours usually covers the end of dinner through the last dance.

If cocktail hour is in a separate room, pick one spot for the booth and keep it there. Moving it mid-event takes time out of your run time.

Give your planner and DJ the start time so they can announce it. Then send us the venue floor plan with the booth spot and the nearest outlet marked, plus the venue contact for load-in.

    3. Do vendors need proof of insurance? (We’re insured.)

  • Unique Wedding Photo Booth Ideas to Make Your Event Stand Out

Unique Wedding Photo Booth Ideas to Make Your Event Stand Out

When couples plan a wedding, they focus on the big pieces: the venue, the dress, the flowers, the music. But what guests often remember most is the fun they had at the reception, and a well-chosen photo booth is one of the easiest ways to create that.

After hundreds of weddings with Charlotte Photo Booth Rental, I’ve seen the right booth become the most talked-about part of the night. And many couples don’t realize that photo booths have moved well past simple prints. Here are the most unique wedding photo booth ideas we’re seeing, and what makes each one work.

Bride and her mother posing in a magazine photo booth at a wedding

    1. Magazine cover photo booth

One of the most unique experiences we offer at weddings is the Magazine Photo Booth. Instead of a photo strip, guests get a photo that looks like the cover of a luxury magazine, designed with:

    • the couple’s names
    • the wedding date
    • custom headlines
    • magazine-style layout and type

It feels a step above a standard booth. I’ve seen brides light up the moment they see themselves on the cover with their new family name.

    A real wedding moment

One wedding that stands out was at the Crystal Ballroom in Rock Hill, South Carolina. There were 150 to 200 guests, and we set up both a Magazine Photo Booth and a Glam Booth.

The moment that stuck with me was when the bride and her mother stepped into the magazine booth together. Seeing them on the cover side by side captured the emotion of the day. That’s why couples love this booth: it doesn’t just take photos, it creates moments people want to keep.

    2. Glam photo booth: the classic that always works

Black and white glam booth portrait of wedding guests

The Glam Booth is still one of our most requested wedding experiences. The style came from celebrity weddings and red-carpet events: clean black-and-white portraits with soft skin smoothing. The result looks more like a studio portrait session than a typical photo booth.

Guests love it because the photos look timeless, the lighting is flattering and the whole thing feels a little luxurious. At weddings, the glam booth almost always has a line, and even people who normally avoid photos step in because the results look so good.

    3. Photo booth keychains

Photo booth keychains with guest photos inside

One of the biggest trends we’ve seen recently is photo booth keychains. Instead of just a print, guests take home a small keychain with their photo inside.

It sounds simple, but guests love them because they actually use them. A photo strip can end up in a drawer; a keychain goes on someone’s keys, backpack or purse. Pair a Glam Booth with a keychain add-on and you get elegance and a keepsake in one.

    4. Photo magnets

Another fast-growing wedding trend is photo magnets. Instead of a standard print, guests get a magnet version of their photo that goes straight on the fridge. Magnets last longer than prints, they’re easy to display, and they become part of everyday life: every time a guest walks into the kitchen, they remember your wedding.

    5. High-angle photo booth

One of the newest wedding trends is the high-angle photo booth, which captures photos from above. The overhead view works for large group photos, creative poses and dramatic wedding dress shots. It’s still new in the wedding market, so it feels fresh to guests, and I expect it to become a major trend over the next few years.

Why the experience matters more than the booth

One thing I tell couples: don’t just book a photo booth, book an experience. A basic booth takes pictures. A well-designed experience gets guests interacting, gives them something to take home and becomes part of the atmosphere of the night.

    A common mistake couples make

Adding the booth late, without much thought about the guest experience. The booths that work best are an intentional part of the wedding design. The other mistake is only thinking about prints, when magnets, keychains and magazine covers can make the booth feel far more personal.

Design the booth area as part of the decor

Don’t put the booth in a leftover corner. Treat it like a feature of the reception:

    • match the backdrop to your wedding colors (see our backdrops and flower walls)
    • add florals around the booth
    • set up a clear sign so guests know where to go

When the booth looks like part of the wedding, guests are drawn to it.

When should the photo booth be open?

Cocktail hour, after dinner and during open dancing are the best windows. Guests have time to relax and join in. Our packages include 3 hours, which covers most receptions from the end of dinner through the last dance.

    Final thoughts

Wedding photo booths aren’t just cameras printing strips anymore. From magazine covers and glam portraits to keychains and magnets, they can be one of the highlights of your reception, and a place where guests laugh, connect and make memories together.
